Mone Sengphet
Mone Sengphet born 12/31/1932 and passed 8/22/2010 documented at Chapel of the Light funeral home but not in the local news paper (Fresno Bee obituary). I don't know why but it is sad. My grandpa obituary was there but not my grandma.
There is so much to learn from a person. I am going to share my grandma, Mone Sengphet with the world.
My grandma on my father side, Mone Sengphet, was born in Laos there was no birth certificate during her time of birth. At Thailand refugee camp, my grandma and grandpa, Thongdam Sengphet, had to pick a date for their birthdate along with all of their kids to process the legal documents for them to come to USA. They picked 12/31/xx as a birthdate with only the year of birth as different. So my grandpa birthdate was 12/31/30 and passed 4/21/2010. My father birthday is 12/31/19xx and so on with my aunts as well. I later found out having a make up birthdate or name especially last name was common among refugee at Thailand refugee camps and other refugee camps throughout the world as well.
My grandparent had no schooling but was very smart in life. My grandfather was well known for curing people. My grandma was love by everyone who comes to know her. They did not have much in material things but their love was very powerful.
I was blessed to be raised by them. I don't remember before elementary school started but I have seen pictures of them caring for me. My mom traveled across USA to give me the opportunity to be with my grandparent. I am grateful.
I missed my grandparent often, sometime more then other.
I remember their sticky rice. My grandma fish soup is the best until this day there is still no match.
I remember our walks.
I remember my grandma picking me up from school and dropping me off to school.
I remember my grandparent call me GO (chael instead Michael). My name is Jitmichael or Michael. They cannot pronounce it. So they call me GO. Meaning handsome. I was ok with that. lol. My brother name is Ponrichard or Richard. They call him Jurch (chard instead of Richard) (pronounce like Church but with a J.) It mean speed, moving here and there non stop.
Now a day very few of us are blessed to have this luxury of being raised by your grandparent.
I am one of the lucky one.
I love you grandma. I love you too grandpa.
